Skyway Construction in Lapu-Lapu City to Begin Soon
The development of Lapu-Lapu Expressway (LLEX) is set to start before long to diminish travel time to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA). The steamed leader of Lapu-Lapu City detailed this in the midst of the Tourism Talk event on July 11, 2024.
A memorandum of understanding will be signed with Premium Megastructures Inc. (PMI) and the Manuel Velez Pangilinan Group of Companies (MVP) for the project. The new proponent, PMI, is capable of completing the project efficiently.
The 12-kilometer, four-lane skyway will be the first of its kind in the Visayas and Mindanao region, offering a faster route to MCIA from the CCLEX. The project, worth P25 billion, aims to ease traffic congestion in Marigondon and Calawisan areas.
Initially, the construction will link the Pilipog Bridge, connecting Cordova town to Lapu-Lapu City, and extend towards the MCIA.
The skyway’s starting point will be in Barangay Babay 2, traversing through the Mactan Economic Zone, Mactan Aviation Road, and Barangays Pajac, Buaya, Bankal, and Ibo before reaching Pusok. This is one step to a more convenient pathway in the busy streets of Lapu-Lapu City.
